On of my favourite sci-fi films of all time was Blade Runner 2049. In the film, the main character was approached by a advertisement. The massive advertisement reached out to the Ryan Goslings character like a dream! This made me think about the future of advertising and how ads will change over the years. As future continues to unfold we see advertisements that impact the soul. These ads have become so connected with our lives and have become known as Guerrilla marketing.
What is Guerilla Marketing?
Guerilla marketing is a concept that continues to be seen in patches but has started to fade a bit with how popular digital marketing is becoming these days. From my understanding this form of marketing that is more experiential, by disrupting the flow of the way people live, this can be one of the best forms of marketing ever.
Guerilla marketing is used by big and small businesses. They look to help people understand a message in a new and creative way. This form of marketing can sometimes be on a grand scale, for the most part companies are looking to disrupt your daily life with marketing that captures the way you live.
The best way to explain this form of marketing is through photos and I have included several below for some laughs and some great viewing. In some sense, this is still an untapped way of marketing online. I have seen it done but it has never been done a scale that truly captures the essence of what it can be. Correct me if I am wrong in the comments below but I have yet to see it.
How Guerrilla Marketing Can Help Your Brand
Although this may not be your first choice, this form of marketing has become increasingly popular online. Marketers have the ability to impact campaigns through the use of clever strategies like Guerrilla branding. As we take the time to create groups, posters and online social events, we are using this form of marketing. Each time we take the time to do something out of our comfort zone we are learning new strategies for the future. Guerrilla marketing isn’t just a in person ordeal. When we take the time to create Facebook groups to talk about new developments on your brand or go live on Instgram, this can be considered Guerrilla. So as you take the time to learn and grow, you will recognize new ways of telling your story.
