The Struggles Of Making A Podcast

You have come to the right place if you have been struggling to make that award winning podcast about your interest. I have been struggling for the past few days to put my voice out there regarding my favorite topic: Marketing property. Today, we explore some of the biggest struggles that I am facing and find solutions that can not only help me but help others too!

Overthinking About The Topic

The main responses I will give you for why I haven’t started a podcast relates to the overthinking process. For the past week and a half I have been going back and forth as to which topic would appeal to others and would add value to my community.

For me, its important to add some sort of value to someone who may need it. I don’t like the idea of giving blindly without discussing if this will give a certain level of value to someone else.

This being said, overthinking is a deterrent to success. We can’t expect to have all the answers to all our questions. Whether that be in our lives, relationships, or future careers. We need to be able to say, “What ever happens, happens” and continue our journey. There must be a point in time where we try our best to execute.

This is one area of my struggles that I have been working on and will look to overcome.

Not Knowing What To Say

This one is a common one. Yesterday, I was recording my podcast and I wanted to test how long I could record while talking about my topic. I got up to about 20 mins and I was genuinely surprised at the outcome because it felt like I was talking for 5 mins. I found that once I started recording about something that I found interesting it was a lot easier to just talk!

It is amazing what execution can do for you. When it comes to not knowing what to say I’d suggestion the following:

  • Try to just record your voice. Make it long, make it random and just talk about whatever your interested in. Don’t care about the outcome.
  • Once you do this, listen to it and try it again. This time, think about what you really want to say and make some point form notes.
  • Next, expand on those points. Take the time to use those point form notes as talking points. These are now your points to expand on in your podcast. Time to record, edit and upload.

Thinking Too Hard About The Tools You Need

Okay so I haven’t been the best in spending my money. I am working on it. The microphone I purchased was for 50-60$ dollars and it works great! The only problem is that I don’t feel I need it (So Far). It will come in handy soon but for just starting of, I think using your phone is completely acceptable. The next stage for me would be to get more feedback on my voice and see if people are okay with the audio.

Here is a exclusive clip of my audio recording below, its not the greatest sound quality but I feel when it comes to just putting your word out there, this works.

We often think we need all the tools to have success. When in reality all the tools we need are literally at our feet charging every night. Your smartphone serves as a great tool for those who want to make excuses that they do not have a microphone. Start recording and execute!
